Spicer® Features Scania P400, P500 and P600 Models
Beginning this August, Dana’s Aftermarket Group is pleased to announce the expansion of their Spicer® driveshaft line for commercial vehicle manufacturer Scania, which will include Scania’s P400, P500 and P600 series, joining the list of Scania models for which Dana already supplies Spicer original driveshafts. Dana also has a long history of supplying Spicer driveshafts for Scania as an original equipment manufacturer.
Dana’s capabilities and processes have enabled the delivery of a complete package of specially-designed and manufactured original Spicer components, including
u-joints, tubes, and more for Scania.
To meet the unique needs of Scania commercial vehicles, Spicer original equipment driveshafts for Scania were developed using specialized equipment and proprietary manufacturing processes including friction welding. The driveshaft components were then adapted for replacement use, utilizing MIG/MAG welding for universal fabrication, scalability and production, while keeping the properties and quality of the driveshaft components intact.
Later this year, Spicer driveshafts for Scania P300, and for wide angle series P420 and P520 models, will follow. With the additions, Spicer original driveshafts and driveshaft components will be available for every Scania model currently in production, and to service virtually all of Scania’s vehicle needs.

Spicer® Features Mercedes Benz Sprinter
Starting in August, 2016, Dana’s Aftermarket Group will expand their Spicer® original driveshaft product range to include the Mercedes Benz Sprinter light commercial vehicle series. Spicer® original driveshafts for the Sprinter will be available for over 80% of the existing vehicle range.
For the Sprinter, Dana has incorporated its technical expertise and proprietary processes to manufacture high quality advanced driveshaft components, many of which are fully interchangeable with Mercedes original equipment components. The result is a superior, advanced Spicer original product at a competitive price to meet customer needs.
The Sprinter driveshafts use Spicer Compact 2020 universal joints, which are sealed for life and have snap ring construction; Spicer’s center bearing, an aftermarket industry first, is interchangeable with OEM components, and also comes as a complete replacement kit unit. Both the u-joint and center bearing designs allow for easier vehicle field service. Dana’s proprietary swage tube design provides ultra-high strength at critical speeds and clearances directly comparable with OEM standards. Ensuring perfect fitment to the vehicle.
Precise manufacturing of all components reduces risk of product failure, and assembly on OEM production equipment results in the highest level of quality control.
Spicer driveshafts for the Mercedes Benz Sprinter have been fully tested to over 335,000 testing cycles, with methods including full torsional testing at high torque and low speed. During assembly, which utilizes the most stringent OEM assembly procedures, the driveshafts undergo dynamic high-speed balancing at 3,500 RPM, equivalent to driving the Autobahn at 100 km/h. The rigorous testing ensures that superior quality and maximum durability, safety and performance are maintained long term, and under real-world driving conditions.
Spicer® original features:
- Service friendly through snap ring construction
- High-speed balancing standard
- Swaged tube construction avoids critical speed limits
